N.Y. Woman Charged With Stabbing Husband in Groin, Bludgeoning Him With Sledgehammer

A woman has been charged with murder and manslaughter for allegedly bludgeoning her husband with a sledgehammer and knifing him in the groin.

Police say 56-year-old Frank Mirra was found dead Tuesday morning in suburban Putnam County, but may have been killed on Saturday.

The police would say only that he was hit with a blunt object and stabbed. But the county's chief assistant district attorney, Christopher York, told The Journal News there were knife injuries to Mirra's groin area and his penis was cut.

York said a sledgehammer and knife were found in the house the Mirras shared with two men on Clubhouse Drive in Lake Carmel.

Forty-one-year-old Pamela Mirra was arraigned Tuesday night and was being held in the Putnam County jail. Police had no information on her lawyer and the district attorney's office did not immediately return phone calls.
