McDonald's Corp. (MCD) is expanding its test of five varieties of deli-style sandwiches and expects to have them in 400 of its U.S. restaurants by the end of the year, a spokeswoman said.
The "Oven Selects (search)" sandwiches are a part of the fast-food chain's effort to broaden its appeal by adding new products to its traditional hamburger-and-fries menu.
"Our customers like having a variety of tastes and choices and they especially like having the McDonald's core menu and these additional choices," McDonald's spokeswoman Lisa Howard told Reuters.

The test of the sandwiches began earlier this year at one restaurant in suburban Chicago and is now being expanded to McDonald's locations in Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Ky; Richmond, Va; and San Antonio.
The suggested retail price for each sandwich is $4. A side of French fries or coleslaw or a medium-sized drink can be added for an additional $1.50.
The sandwiches, which come on either toasted rye bread or a toasted French roll, come in five varieties -- Turkey BLT, Buffalo Chicken, Beef n' Provolone, Leaning Tower Italian, and New York Reuben.
