A state lawmaker wants to require children under 13 to wear helmets when they are sledding or skiing.
Sen. Steven Panagiotakos of Lowell's proposal follows reports of several weather-related injuries following last week's snow and ice storm in Massachusetts.
A ten-year-old boy from Lowell was among those who suffered serious injuries while sledding.

Panagiotakos said most kids already have bicycle helmets, and those could be used for sledding as well, so most families would not have to incur any extra costs.
