Man Summoned from Saipan on Charges of Wife's Murder
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has requested that a Japanese businessman be extradited from Saipan to face charges of murdering his wife in Los Angeles more than two decades ago.
The governor on Wednesday signed a requisition for Kazuyoshi Miura. It asks the governor of the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to send Miura from Saipan.
The 60-year-old Miura was arrested there last month on a warrant charging him with having his wife killed to collect life insurance.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Miura claimed that in 1981 robbers wounded him and shot his wife, who died the following year.
He was convicted of murder in Japan, but that was overturned.
