He alleges in the London Observer that the Bush administration (a) knew about the attacks in advance and didn't act, (b) doesn't know who committed the slaughter -- thus contradicting point (a), and (c) that the Bush junta -- Vidal's description -- used the slaughter as an excuse to wage war in that modern-day Eden, Afghanistan -- and to crack down on civil liberties in the U.S.
