U.S. men win in water polo
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The United States improved to 2-0 in group play of the men's water polo tournament at the London Games, posting a 10-8 victory over Romania on Tuesday.
The U.S., which finished second to Hungary four years ago in Beijing, used three goals from both Ryan Bailey and Peter Varellas to defeat the Romanians.
The Americans won their opening game of the tournament against Montenegro, which defeated the defending gold medalists on Tuesday. The 11-10 loss dropped the Hungarians to 0-2 in Group B play.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Serbia routed Great Britain, 21-7, in the other Group B game. The British are competing in men's water polo for the first time since 1956 and have been outscored by a 34-11 margin in two games.
In Group A play on Tuesday, Croatia beat Spain, 8-7, Australia bested Kazakhstan, 7-4, and Italy tied Greece, 7-7.
