Twins' Nathan to delay decision on elbow surgery
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}MIAMI (Reuters) - Minnesota Twins closer Joe Nathan has a "significant tear" to an elbow ligament and may need surgery, the team said on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old pitcher will rest and then do rehab work before making a decision on whether the injury requires surgery, said a report on the team's official website (http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com).
The former All Star faced one batter in the Spring training game against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday before being withdrawn after complaining of soreness in his elbow.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Nathan then had a scan on Monday amid fears he could be ruled out for the season.
The Twins were American League Central division winners last season.
