Twins bring Kubel back on minor league deal
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Twins have signed Jason Kubel to a minor league deal.
Kubel, of course, debuted with the Twins in 2004 and stayed with them through 2011 before signing a free agent deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks prior to the start of the 2012 season.
The 31-year-old hit 30 home runs in his first season with the Diamondbacks, but struggled to a .220 average, five homers, eight doubles and 32 RBI in 89 games last season before being designated for assignment.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Kubel ended his 2013 campaign with the Cleveland Indians, but hit just .167 in 18 at-bats for them. Cleveland then declined its $7.5 million option on him, thus making him a free agent.
For his career Kubel is a .264 hitter with 139 home runs and 551 RBI over 991 games with the Twins, D'Backs and Indians.
