Tigres routs Morelia
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Mexico City, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Tigres climbed to fifth in the Liga MX table on Friday after rolling to a 5-1 thrashing of Morelia at the Estadio Universitario.
The visiting side was gifted the opening goal after just nine minutes through an own goal by Luis Carlos Cardozo. Morelia pulled level just prior to the half-hour mark through David Depetris.
But Tigres seized firm control of the game in the second half and retook the lead in the 49th minute through Guido Pizarro and Emanuel Alejandro Villa made it 3-1 in the 66th minute.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Hernan Burbano made it 4-1 for Tigres in the 77th minute and Damian Ariel Alvarez capped the rout with a goal in stoppage time to hand Tigres its second win of the season.
Morelia, meanwhile, remains on the bottom of the table with just two points from six matches.
Also in Liga MX on Friday, Andres Renteria, Javier Orozco and Carlos Darwin Quintero all scored to hand Santos a 3-0 victory over Toluca.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}On Saturday, Cruz Azul claimed a 2-1 win over Queretaro, Monterrey handed Puebla a 1-0 defeat on the strength of a goal from Dorlan Pabon, while Matias Alustiza bagged a hat trick to lead Pachuca to a comfortable 3-1 win against Atlas.
Finally on Saturday, Veracruz and Guadalajara played to a scoreless draw, as did Jaguares and America.
On Sunday. Pumas and Tijuana played to a 1-1 stalemate, while newly-promoted Leones Negros earned its first win of the season with a 1-0 result over Leon.
