Stars sign Eakin to 2-year deal
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Stars signed restricted free-agent center Cody Eakin to a two-year contract Monday.
No financial terms were disclosed by the team, but the Dallas Morning News reports the pact is worth $3.8 million for the duration.
"Cody is a two-way, young forward who competes hard and has the ability to make plays offensively," said Stars GM Jim Nill. "He has just scratched the surface in terms of his development at this level and we are confident that over these next two years, we'll see him mature into an even more dependable and productive player."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The 23-year-old Manitoba native notched career highs in goals (16), assists (19), points (35) and games played (81) for Dallas last season. In 159 appearances over parts of three NHL seasons, Eakin has totaled 27 goals and 40 assists for the Caps and Stars.
