STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford guard Robert Cartwright will miss the entire season with a compound fracture in his right arm.

Cartwright was hurt in practice Monday and had surgery Wednesday. Coach Johnny Dawkins says Cartwright's leadership as a point guard will be missed.

Cartwright played in all but one game, earning one start, as a freshman last season when Stanford won the postseason NIT. He averaged 1.9 points in 11.1 minutes per game.

Stanford opens the season at home against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Nov. 13.
