Sources: Hewitt staying at Georgia Tech

Paul Hewitt is staying at Georgia Tech.

Hewitt, according to sources close to the situation, has spurned interest from St. John's and decided to remain in Atlanta -- where he has spent the last decade.

Hewitt is a New York native who turned down St. John's the last time around -- and was Chris Monasch's top target this time after Norm Roberts was let go.

Georgia Tech was 23-13 this past season, 7-9 in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets lost to Ohio State last weekend in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Hewitt is 177-144 in his tenure and led Georgia Tech to the national title game in 2004.

Hewitt's contract is a five-year rollover in which he would pay $3.4 million if he leaves. If Georgia Tech decides to let him go, the school would owe him more than $7 million.
