Sochaux's Butin out for the season
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Sochaux's bid to avoid relegation took a hit as it was confirmed on Monday that striker Edouard Butin will take no further part in the season.
Butin sustained a cruciate ligament injury against Lyon on Saturday when he collided with Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, and the club confirmed in a statement that he will miss the next six months.
"The initial diagnosis after Edouard Butin's injury against Lyon has been confirmed today following (MRI) scans.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"The striker will have an operation on Tuesday morning on a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will be unavailable for six months."
Butin leads the team with six goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances, but he will miss the final nine games with Sochaux sitting two points from safety.
