Williams had never reached the finals in Cincinnati until last year, when she fell apart late in the match and lost to Victoria Azarenka in a third-set tiebreaker.
No wobbles Sunday. After getting broken in the first game, she recovered and closed it out in 62 minutes.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Williams has been playing well on hard courts. She won at Stanford in her first tournament since Wimbledon. A stiff back limited her in the semifinals in Cincinnati, but it didn't slow her Sunday.
Ivanovic was coming off a nearly 3-hour win over Maria Sharapova on Saturday night.
