Scuderi returns to Penguins on 4-year deal
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Unrestricted free-agent defenseman Rob Scuderi returned to a familiar location on Friday, signing a four-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
No financial terms were disclosed, but the deal carries an average annual value of $3.375 million for the duration.
The 34-year-old returns to the club which selected him in the fifth round of the 1998 draft as a two-time Stanley Cup champion, adding one with Los Angeles in 2012 to the first he won with the Pens back in 2009.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Scuderi totaled one goal and 11 assists in 48 regular-season appearances with the Kings this past season, while contributing three helpers in 18 playoff games as the defending champions reached the third round.
A national championship winner during his senior season at Boston College, Scuderi will once again be teammates with Brooks Orpik, a fellow former Eagle and current Penguin.
The native of Long Island has gained 585 games of NHL experience since 2003, totaling 79 assists and 86 points for the Penguins (2003-09) and Kings (2009-13).
