Sanders scores 23 to lead Fairleigh Dickinson to a 58-54 upset of Seton Hall
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Point guard Sidney Sanders scored 23 points and handed out nine assists in leading Fairleigh Dickinson to a 58-54 upset victory over Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon at the Prudential Center.
Sanders sank two free throws with 20.2 seconds showing for a 57-54 lead and added one foul shot with five seconds left to seal it. Scooter Gillette, who made a big block down the stretch, ended with 15 points for FDU (3-6), which has defeated in-state New Jersey colleges, Rutgers and Seton Hall in consecutive games.
It was just the fourth victory for FDU against Seton Hall in 21 meetings, the last coming in 2006.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Fuquan Edwin had 16 points and Brian Oliver netted 12 for Seton Hall (4-3).
Gillette's block of Brandon Mobley's shot in the paint preserved a 55-54 lead and led to the two foul shots by Sanders.
