Sabres claim rare home win against Stars
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Zemgus Girgensons tallied a goal and an assist as the Buffalo Sabres claimed their first home win of 2015 with a 3-2 decision over the Dallas Stars on Saturday.
Tyler Myers and Tyler Ennis also scored, Chris Stewart tied a career high with three assists and Jhonas Enroth made an impressive 38 saves for the Sabres, who won their first game at First Niagara Center since a 4-3 shootout win over the Islanders on Dec. 27.
"Jhonas stood on his head for us," Girgensons said. "We've been working hard these past few days."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Tyler Seguin and Cody Eakin each lit the lamp and John Klingberg supplied two assists in Dallas' third straight loss.
"This is a game we needed to win." said Seguin. "It's an embarrassing one to lose."
Anders Lindback, who was recalled from Texas of the AHL on Friday, stopped 21- of-24 shots in his first start since Jan. 15.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Buffalo went ahead 3-0 after Girgensons crashed the net and deposited Nikita Zadorov's cross-ice pass past Lindback at 5:59 of the second period, but Dallas stayed in the game.
Seguin scored with 4:37 to play in the middle stanza as he finished off crisp passing by wristing a shot over the shoulder of Enroth for a power-play goal.
Midway through the third, Klingberg stepped up into the slot and slid a pass to Eakin, who wristed a shot through the pads of Enroth from the left circle to make it a one-goal game.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Dallas pulled Lindback with two minutes to play, but the Sabres held off their opponents' frantic offensive push to secure the win.
The Sabres got on the board with 1:43 left in the first after Myers moved in from the point and fired a shot from the right circle that caromed off traffic in front and into the net.
Matt Moulson forced a turnover near the blue line and shuffled the puck to Stewart at the side of the net. Stewart sent a slick backhanded pass to Ennis, who wristed the puck past a diving Lindback for a 2-0 lead 43 seconds into the second.

Buffalo also won its first regulation home game since a 4-3 victory over Calgary on Dec. 11 ... Stewart also had three assists on March 7, 2013 ... Klingberg has at least a point in four of his last five games ... The two teams will meet again in Dallas on March 23.
