Ruud Gullit to manage small Russian soccer club
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Ruud Gullit will be coaching a small Russian soccer team in the formerly war-torn province of Chechnya.
The team Terek Grozny said on its website Tuesday that the Dutch soccer great has agreed to an 18-month contract.
Gullit was fired as coach of the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS three years ago. He also has managed Chelsea, Newcastle and Feyenoord and was a World Cup commentator for ESPN last year. The Russian national team is coached by Dutchman Dick Advocaat.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Terek finished 12th this season in the Russian Premier League. Club President Ramzan Kadyrov has given Gullit a target of a top-eight finish next season. Kadyrov is also president of the province.
The Russian Premier League season is switching from a summer to winter season.
