In the name of a short-term fix, the city of Oakland and their iconic football team are working together.

The Oakland Raiders and city officials have discussed extending the team's lease at O.Co Coliseum, according to Bay Area News Group. The Raiders' old lease expired this year.

Executive director of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority Scott McKibben, via Bay Area News Group:

Such a deal might never come to pass. Raiders owner Mark Davis is reportedly interested in moving his team to San Diego or San Antonio; either city could lure Davis with perks and new stadium promises.

Then again, this announcement could buy crucial time. And in that span, city officials could re-work a favorable offer to keep the Raiders in Oakland once and for all.
