Report: Garciaparra to announce retirement
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Nomar Garciaparra will announce his retirement from baseball Wednesday in Fort Myers, Fla, according to reports.
Garciaparra, 36, is expected to sign a one-day minor-league contract with the Boston Red Sox and then retire to begin work as a TV analyst, the Boston Globe reported.
Garciaparra played for the Red Sox from 1996 to 2004, when he was traded to the Cubs. He was a five-time All-Star in Boston and the AL Rookie of the Year in 1997.
