Report: Clowney tears left meniscus, needs surgery
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Houston Texans outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney reportedly suffered a torn meniscus in his knee that will require surgery.
Clowney left late in the first half of Sunday's win against the Washington Redskins and did not return for the second half.
The first overall pick in this year's draft, Clowney had made one tackle in the game before walking into the locker room under his own power near the end of the half.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"We're consulting with the doctors and trainers right now," said Houston head coach Bill O'Brien after the game."I'm not sure about the status, but I will say right now that they think it's a good prognosis so it looks like it's going to be ok. He may miss some time, he may not. Who knows. We'll know better as the week goes on."
However, several reports state the he suffered a torn meniscus that will require surgery and he will miss 4-to-6 weeks.
The South Carolina product had offseason sports hernia surgery and also suffered a concussion during a joint scrimmage against the Denver Broncos during training camp.
