PARIS --

Rennes clinched their first win in eight Ligue 1 matches as goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Gelson Fernandes secured a 2-0 victory at Angers.

The Brittany side had started the season brightly, winning four of the first five matches, but this was under-pressure coach Philippe Montanier's first league win since Sept. 13.

Midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure put Rennes ahead in the fourth minute and Switzerland midfielder Gelson Fernandes made it 2-0 in the 61st.

Rennes has 20 points after 13 rounds, two less than Angers, which is in fourth place ahead of this weekend's matches.

League leader Paris Saint-Germain, which lost 1-0 away to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday for its first defeat of the season, hosts Toulouse on Saturday.
