Rangers strengthens hold on second place

A late goal from Lee McCulloch helped Rangers to a 2-1 win at Motherwell on Saturday that moves the Glasgow side six points clear in second place and delays the title celebrations of Celtic for one more week.

The two sides entered Saturday's match with just three points between them in the race for second place, and Motherwell started quickly with Henrik Ojamaa firing the hosts in front after six minutes.

Things were level once more three minutes later when Steven Whittaker scored on a long-range effort that beat Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph, although the next goal didn't come until the final minutes.

It was set up by a long throw in from Lee Wallace, who found McCulloch inside the penalty area for a goal from six yards that hands Motherwell a second straight loss.

Dundee United 3, Dunfermline 0

Daly then netted his league-leading 17th goal to cap the victory, which is the sixth straight for the club to move them level on points with St Johnstone in an effort to secure a place in Europe.

Another goal in the 89th from Skacel secured the win, which is the third in four games for Hearts.
