Rangers lead Kings after one period in Game 2
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan McDonagh and Mats Zuccarello netted the first goals of the contest, and the New York Rangers find themselves ahead by a 2-0 count over the Los Angeles Kings after one period of play in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Jonathan Quick had to be sharp on the game's first shift, using his blocker to deflect a hard Rick Nash offering from the edge of the right circle.
Both teams countered rush after rush from there, and the Rangers dodged a bullet roughly six minutes in, as Justin Williams had a 20-foot head start behind the defense only to lose the puck in his feet at the right circle.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}New York and Los Angeles both squeezed off two shots during the game's first power play, created when Marian Gaborik was banished for tripping at the 7:58 mark.
McDonagh's blast from near the blue line somehow went untouched through traffic and beat Quick for the game's first goal at 10:48. Williams' failed clear along the left-wing boards behind the net found the stick of Dominic Moore, who dished back to the left point for the successful chance.
The visitors were unscathed after McDonagh committed a roughing penalty inside of five minutes left, and Henrik Lundqvist made a lunging glove stop on an Alec Martinez drive with 2:20 left before intermission.

Lundqvist was equal to all nine shots he faced, while Quick made eight stops.
