Rangers' Beltre tabbed as AL Player of the Week
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been named the American League's Player of the Week for games played between July 1-7.
Beltre earned the honor, the fourth of his career, after leading the majors in home runs (4) and total bases (25) while batting .478 (11-of-23) with five RBI and four runs scored over six games. The three-time All-Star hit safely in all six contests and enters Monday's play riding a nine-game hitting streak.
The highlight of Beltre's week came on Independence Day, when the 34-year-old veteran slugged a pair of solo homers as part of a 3-for-4 effort in Texas' 5-4 victory over Seattle. He also went deep twice during the Rangers' three- game series with Houston over the weekend.
