QB Stidham transferring from Baylor instead of being backup
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}WACO, Texas (AP) Jarrett Stidham says he's transferring from Baylor, where he was expected to again be the backup quarterback behind senior Seth Russell.
Stidham announced his decision in a statement posted on his Twitter account Thursday. He appeared in 10 games as a freshman last season, including three starts after Russell suffered a season-ending neck injury.
During an appearance on ESPN Central Texas radio Thursday, Baylor acting head coach Jim Grobe said Stidham decided to move on to find a place where he can get more snaps.

Russell was the top-rated FBS passer last season when he got hurt Oct. 24. Stidham then started three games before breaking a bone in his right ankle.
