Prosecutors denied Hernandez jail calls
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Fall River, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - A judge ruled Friday that prosecutors in former NFL star Aaron Hernandez's murder case can't have recordings of his jailhouse calls.
The judge said that prosecutors didn't make a sufficient enough case for the records.
The defense stated that prosecutors are on a "fishing expedition."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Prosecutors said that Hernandez allegedly communicated about the case in "coded messages" and discussed his belief about his criminal liability.
Hernandez pleaded not guilty in September to a charge of first-degree murder and five accompanying weapons charges in the death of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year- old semi-pro football player from the Boston area who was dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend.
Four others have been charged in the case, including Hernandez's fiancee and cousin.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Hernandez is also under investigation for allegedly participating in a 2012 double homicide in Boston.
