Pereira battled through a tough first set before rolling in the second to earn a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 victory, becoming the first Brazilian to win a WTA singles title since Neige Dias at Barcelona in April of 1988.
Ranked 130th in the world, the 26-year-old Pereira didn't drop a set this week. She beat former Grand Slam champion Francesca Schiavone in the first round, knocked out two-time Bogota champion Lourdes Dominguez Lino in the quarterfinals and took out the top-seeded Elina Svitolina in the semis.
