Pedroia homers, Lester sharp for Red Sox
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Dustin Pedroia homered in the first then declared himself ready for opening day, Jon Lester struck out 10 in seven innings and the Boston Red Sox beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-0 Monday.
The home run off Joe Blanton was Pedroia's second of the spring. With opening day just over a week away, the 2008 American League MVP said his bat is ready.
The 31-year-old Blanton, who missed the majority of the 2011 season with an elbow injury, allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings.
