On Monday, the New England Patriots acquired linebacker Jon Bostic from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Because the Patriots didn't give up a player in the trade, they were forced to make a cut in order to make room for Bostic.

The Patriots did so on Tuesday by releasing running back Travaris Cadet.

As the fifth running back on the roster, Cadet wasn't seeing the field much, which ultimately led to his release. Dion Lewis emerged as a dynamic back, while LeGarrette Blount has the ability to be a bell cow for the Patriots.

Cadet caught just one pass for the Patriots this season after hauling in 38 for the Saints a year ago. It was a matter of there not being room on the roster for a fifth running back, especially one with a similar skill set to Lewis.
