Patriots bring in Will Smith
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Foxboro, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New England Patriots have signed veteran defensive end Will Smith to an undisclosed contract, the team announced Monday.
Smith comes to New England following a 10-year stint with the New Orleans Saints, who selected the 32-year-old in the first round of the 2004 draft. He was released by the Saints in February.
A key contributor to New Orleans' Super Bowl XLIV championship squad in 2009, Smith amassed 67 1/2 sacks over 139 games with the Saints and twice reached double-digits in that category during his tenure with the team. He missed the entire 2013 campaign, however, after tearing his ACL during training camp.
