Pato nets brace to lead Corinthians past Bahia

Corinthians claimed its second win of the season on Sunday behind a pair of goals from Pato, who led the club to a 2-0 win at Bahia.

Pato scored his first goal of the season in the 32nd minute before doubling his tally 10 minutes later to give his side a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead which was never in danger after the break.

Botafogo jumped into first place with a 1-0 win over Fluminense as Clarence Seedorf scored the lone goal in the 83rd minute, while Coritiba dropped to second place after a 2-2 draw at Flamengo that required second-half goals from Chico and Alex to come from two goals down.

Gremio got a goal from Hernan Barcos in the 82nd minute to snatch a 1-1 draw at Paranaense, Ponte Preta snapped a string of four losses in five games with a 3-1 triumph at Nautico and Portuguesa traded first-half goals with Cruzeiro in a 1-1 draw.

Vitoria lost 1-0 at Goias to remain in third place, Internacional scored three goals in the second half to hold off Vasco da Gama, 5-3, second-half goals from Giva and Cicero lifted Santos to a 2-0 win at Sao Paulo and Atletico Mineiro notched a 3-2 win over Criciuma, which lost for the fourth time in six games.
