Owens speaks with media after 1st practice with Seattle

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Terrell Owens spoke with the media on Wednesday after his first practice as a member of the team.

"It was good. A little rusty, but just glad to be out here and grateful for the opportunity that the Seahawks have given me," said Owens after agreeing to a one-year deal with Seattle on Monday.

The 38-year-old, who spent last season with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League, spoke of the humbling experience that came from his two-year hiatus from the NFL.

"A lot of people don't expect me to use that word humble, but there's been a lot of moments within the last two years that have had me to face and use that word," remarked Owens.

The six-time Pro Bowler also acknowledged the fact that he will not be handed a starting role, saying, "I have to earn my spot on this team like everyone else, I understand that, and I just have to take it one step at a time."

Owens, a 15-year veteran, will get his first shot to prove his worth in game action on Saturday as the Seahawks open preseason play with a matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
