BALTIMORE (Reuters) - Baltimore Orioles catcher Matt Wieters, who has struggled this year in trying to repeat his impressive rookie campaign, suffered another setback as a strained right hamstring landed him on the disabled list.
The Orioles placed the former fifth-overall draft pick from 2007 on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday after he injured himself stumbling around second base in a July 9 game, the team said on its website (http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/).
The 24-year-old had a .245 batting average and 29 RBIs in 77 games this season for a woeful Orioles team that has the worst record in Major League Baseball (29-59) and trail the New York Yankees by 27 games in the American League East division.

Last season, Wieters averaged .288 and had 43 RBIs in 96 games.
