Oregon assistant fined $5K after complaint about Cougars' tactics
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The Pac-12 Conference has reprimanded and fined Oregon defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti $5,000 for his public complaints about conference officiating and about Washington State's decision to leave in its starters and throw for two late touchdowns in the No. 2 Ducks' 62-38 victory.
Commissioner Larry Scott announced the penalty Monday in a news release, saying the comments showed a lack of support for the Pac-12's policies on sportsmanship.
Aliotti has since publicly apologized for his comments about Washington State.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}In his initial comments, Aliotti called out Washington State head coach Mike Leach, calling the tactic "low class." Oregon pulled its starters in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's game.
