No long-term deal for Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}LOS ANGELES (AP) Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson will play this season under his franchise tag value of $13.952 million after he and Los Angeles couldn't agree to a long-term contract.
The sides had until the NFL deadline of 4 p.m. EDT Friday to reach a new deal. Johnson and the Rams now cannot negotiate a long-term extension until after the season.
In four NFL seasons, Johnson has 15 interceptions, including seven last year in a breakout season for the Rams after being a third-round draft pick out of Montana in 2012.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Johnson joined Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins, Chicago wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and Kansas City's Eric Berry as franchised players who did not receive new contracts.
