Chase Elliott will have his father, NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, as his second spotter for his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series road course start in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway (FS1, 1:30 p.m. ET).

"I'm looking forward to spotting for Chase," Bill, the 1988 NASCAR premier series champion told HendrickMotorsports.com. "It's going to be a good time."

"I used to spot for him on the late model side of things, so getting back on the radio with him is something I'm looking forward to," he added.

Chase will also get some valuable extra track time on the California road course, as he's entered to race in Saturday's NASCAR K&N Pro Series West event.

"Awesome" Bill recorded one win and 10 top-five finishes at Sonoma throughout his career.
