MILAN --

Yuto Nagatomo has extended his contract with Inter Milan through the 2018-19 season, allowing the Japan fullback to stay with the club for nine consecutive seasons.

Inter made the announcement Friday without disclosing financial details. The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the new deal raises Nagatomo's salary from 1.3 million euros ($1.5 million) to 1.5 million euros ($1.7 million) per season.

The 29-year-old Nagatomo joined Inter from Cesena in January 2011 and has made 172 appearances and scored 11 goals in all competitions for the club.

He reportedly turned down a loan move to Manchester United in January. His contract was due to expire at the end of this season.

Nagatomo says ''I feel at home here. I didn't want to leave and I'm happy I can stay.''
