Murray moves into quarters; Ferrer falls in China
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Shenzhen, China (SportsNetwork.com) - Two-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray was an easy second-round winner, while top-seeded David Ferrer suffered an upset Thursday at the inaugural Shenzhen Open tennis event.
One-time world No. 12 Viktor Troicki of Serbia sent the Spaniard and former French Open runner-up Ferrer packing in 6-3, 6-4 fashion on the hardcourts at Shenzhen Longgang Tennis Center.
The 174th-ranked Troicki fired 13 aces in a 66-minute victory, his first over Ferrer in four tries.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"I don't want to stop here," said Troicki. "I think I'm playing good. I'll go match by match and try to enjoy it as much as I can."
Meanwhile, the second-seeded British star Murray, still seeking his first title since winning the championship at Wimbledon last year, cruised past Indian Somdev Devvarman 6-3, 6-3 on Day 4 in Shenzhen.
Murray's quarterfinal opponent on Friday will be Slovak Lukas Lacko.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Two other second-round matches saw sixth-seeded Colombian Santiago Giraldo handle Aussie qualifier Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-4, 6-3 and Lacko top Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis 6-4, 7-6 (7-1).
The other quarterfinals will pit third-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet against Argentine Juan Monaco, fourth-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo versus eighth-seeded Italian Andreas Seppi and Giraldo against the qualifier Troicki, who recently returned to the ATP Tour following a doping suspension.
The first-ever Shenzhen titlist will earn $106,970.
