Min, Bertens win Hong Kong openers

Hong Kong (SportsNetwork.com) - American Grace Min and Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands were winners Monday on the first day of play at the Hong Kong Open.

Min cruised past Israel's Julia Glushko, 6-4, 6-2, and Bertens knocked off eighth-seeded Anna Schmiedlova of Slovakia, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), on a light day of first-round action.

Germany's Sabine Lisicki is the top seed for this week's event and will open play Tuesday against Romania's Monica Niculescu. Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova is the second seed and will play her first match Wednesday against Hong Kong native Zhang Ling.

The winner of the inaugural event will collect a first prize of $43,000.
