Mihajlovic appointed Serbia coach

Sinisa Mihajlovic was named the coach of Serbia on Monday, taking charge of the national team on a two-year contract.

The former Yugoslavia international takes over for Vladimir Petrovic, who stepped down after failing to help Serbia qualify for Euro 2012.

Mihajlovic, 43, has spent time managing Serie A sides Fiorentina, Bologna and Catania, while earning 63 caps during his international playing career and capturing the European Cup with Red Star Belgrade.
