Miami C Johnson ruled ineligible
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Miami-Florida center Reggie Johnson was declared ineligible by the university following an investigation that found members of his family received impermissible travel benefits from a member of the former Hurricanes basketball coaching staff.
Johnson was unaware of the benefits uncovered in a join NCAA-Miami probe and his family was told they were allowed by the former member of the coaching staff, the university said Sunday.
The 6-foot-10 junior was ruled ineligible ahead of Sunday's game against No. 15 Florida State. Miami is seeking his immediate reinstatement by the NCAA.
