Mets place Murphy on DL, call up prospect Herrera
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets placed second baseman Daniel Murphy on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a strained right calf.
The move is retroactive to Aug. 25.
Murphy is batting .301 with nine homers and 53 RBI over 126 games this season.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The Mets called up Dilson Herrera, a 20-year-old infielder, from Double-A Binghamton to take the roster spot of Murphy.
Herrera has hit .323 with 13 homers, 33 doubles, 71 RBI and 98 runs scored in 128 games between High-A St. Lucie and Binghamton.
