McCarney, McCord help Colgate amass Patriot League-record 755 yards in beating Lafayette 65-41
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Gavin McCarney rushed for 288 yards and accounted for five of Colgate's record-tying nine touchdowns while the Raiders set school and Patriot League marks with 755 yards total offense and 531 yards rushing in a 65-41 win Saturday over Lafayette.
McCarney's rushing total on 19 carries was the second-highest in school and league history. He also set the Colgate (6-3, 4-0) record for single-season rushing yards for a quarterback (1,010).
The Raiders, who led 21-0 and maintained a two-touchdown lead, had their first pair of 200-yard rushers in the same game with Jordan McCord adding 203 yards and four scores.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Coming into the game as the nation's leading scorer with 92 points, McCarney ran for three touchdowns, including a 75-yarder, and passed for 224 yards and two scores to set a Colgate record with 512 yards total offense.
The Leopards (5-4, 2-2) had 542 yards total offense.
