Mathieu advances in France
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Montpellier, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Wild card Paul-Henri Mathieu was Monday's lone main-draw winner at the Open Sud de France tennis event.
The oft-injured Mathieu was handling fellow Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, 6-1, 3-0, when Mahut retired on the indoor hardcourts at Arena Montpellier, citing the flu.
Mathieu is rewarded with a second-round match against top-seeded countryman and reigning Montpellier champion Richard Gasquet, who also captured this event, in Lyon, in 2006. Mathieu was the 2002 titlist, in Lyon.

This week's titlist will collect $105,000.
