Marseille, Toulouse share the spoils

Marseille, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Christopher Aurier's second-half tally rescued a point for Toulouse in a feisty 2-2 draw with Marseille on Sunday at the Stade Velodrome.

The home side wasted little time getting on the score sheet as Dimitri Payet found the back of the net after just seven minutes, but it was quickly canceled out by a goal from Ben Yedder four minutes later to put the sides back on level terms.

Marseille seized control of the match again five minutes before the intermission as Mathieu Valbuena gave his side the 2-1 lead at the break.

But the home side couldn't hold the lead as Aurier struck for Toulouse right on the hour mark and the clubs were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

The result leaves Marseille in fifth place in Ligue 1 with 36 points, five behind Lille for the final Champions League position, while Toulouse remains in 13th place with 29 points.

Also in Ligue 1 on Sunday, Rennes earned its sixth win of the domestic campaign after rolling to a 2-0 victory over 10-man Lyon at the Stade de la Route de Lorient.

The hosts opened the scoring after 22 minutes when Cedric Hountondji found the back of the net. Rennes' task was then made a bit easier three minutes before the break when Lyon's Samuel Umtiti was given his marching orders, reducing the visitors to 10 men.

Playing with the extra man for the entire second half, the home side finally put the result away in the 66th minute through a goal from new man Ola Toivonen, who completed a switch to Rennes from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven during the January transfer window.

Mathieu Bodmer's strike in first-half stoppage time proved to be the difference as Nice held on for a 1-0 result over Lille at the Stade Municipal du Ray.
