Mariners' Hart lands on DL
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners placed designated hitter Corey Hart on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a hamstring strain he sustained over the weekend.
Hart hurt his left hamstring while stealing a base during Sunday's 6-2 win in Minnesota, then flew back to Seattle on Monday's off day for an MRI that revealed the strain.
The 32-year-old missed the entire 2013 season while with Milwaukee as he recovered from surgery on his left knee.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Hart has homered five times and driven in 17 runs in 37 games this season, but owns just a .209 average and struck out 31 times in 139 at-bats.
Utilityman Nick Franklin was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma and will be available for Tuesday's game at Texas.
Franklin, Seattle's primary second baseman in 2013, went just 2-for-16 in a short stint with the Mariners earlier this season. However, he was leading the Pacific Coast League with a .376 average while recording seven homers and 26 RBI at the time of this promotion.
