Malzahn: Starting Auburn receiver Jaylon Denson out for season with injury
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Auburn coach Gus Malzahn says starting wide receiver Jaylon Denson is out for the season.
Malzahn said Wednesday the loss of Denson to a left leg injury is "a huge blow" and he expects the role to be filled by committee. Denson has posted on Twitter that he sustained a torn patellar tendon in the LSU game.
He has started all four games and has three catches for 45 yards, but also was one of the Tigers' top downfield blockers.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Denson appeared to be breaking free of LSU defensive backs when he tripped on a rain-soaked field while tracking the ball.
Denson remained on the field long after the pass fell incomplete..
The Tigers have a bye this week.
