Lumpkins scores 22 as American U pulls away late to beat Saint Francis (Pa.) 61-51
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Stephen Lumpkins scored 22 points as American University pulled away in the final five minutes for a 61-51 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) in a nonconference game Saturday.
Tony Wroblicky scored three layups in a span of less than two minutes to help the Patriots (3-4) take a 55-51 lead with 2:11 to play. Daniel Munoz made four free throws in the final 49 seconds to help American stay in front and end a three-game losing streak.
Umar Shannon scored 20 points to lead the Red Flash (0-6), who lost their eighth in a row, dating to last season, and their 10th in a row on the road.
