The Detroit Lions' trip to San Diego ended with a 33-28 loss to the Chargers, but wide receiver Golden Tate did enjoy a personal victory the day before the game. Tate took the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend, Elise Pollard, in her hometown.

"I just popped the question, had this big speech, showed up so excited and I blacked out," Tate said, per ESPN's Michael Rothstein. "I couldn't remember a single word I was supposed to say other than, 'Will you marry me?' She said yes."

Tate, 27, had the proposal planned since the summer, according to ESPN. After popping the question, the lucky couple had dinner with a group of about 25-30 people in downtown San Diego.

Pollard shared a photo from Saturday on Instagram and included a heart-warming caption detailing how it all went down.
